I received my massage therapy certificate from the Institute of Psycho-Structural Balancing (IPSB) in San Diego, California in 1987. While studying at IPSB in 1986 I apprenticed in the Ida P. Rolf Method of Structural Integration with Dr. Edward Maupin, an early student of Dr. Rolf's. While at IPSB I studied intensively with Carole Osborne, author of Deep Tissue Sculpting, for several years.
From 1986 until 1994 I maintained
a private practice in the San Diego area specializing in massage, Structural
Integration, neuromuscular therapy, sensory re-patterning, and movement
re-education. During this time I was a faculty member at IPSB where I
apprenticed with senior teachers, taught in a wide variety of programs
and ultimately developed curriculum for the NMT, deep tissue and Structural
Integration programs. In 1988 I studied cranial sacral therapy with the
Upledger Institue and in 1990-91 I studied neuromuscular therapy with
St. John seminars.
In 1992 I began studying at the Guild for Structural Integration. It was during this time that I began research into the development of digital imaging techniques for comparison and analysis of the effects of soft tissue therapies on the client's posture and structure. This is an ongoing and exciting contribution to the bodywork community. In 1994 I relocated to Boulder, Colorado to study intensively at the Guild for Structural Integration as well as continue development of somatic digital applications in a more fertile environment. I completed Advanced training in 1995. During most of 1995-96 I continued to develop the GSI imaging system while deepening my studies there. In 1997, I studied at the Rolf Institute while implementing an imaging system for use in their classrooms. I was certified as a Rolfer® in 1997 and Advanced Certified in 2001.
From 1996 to 1999 I was a senior faculty member of the Massage Therapy Institute of Colorado (MTIC). During my tenure there I developed and documented curriculum in the entry level massage program which included basic Swedish massage and JROM, motion palpation (sensory re-patterning), deep tissue massage and neuromuscular therapy. I also originated and developed the posture and movement lab and its curriculum. This inovative program introduced students to the theories and techniques of postural assessment greatly enhancing their general assessment skills. The lab was also a creative space to further develop my skills with digital imaging techniques. This development led to the creation of computer based gait assessment and comparison protocols.
My present projects include:
-Teaching at the Guild
for Structural Integrationin the pre-requisite and basic program in the Ida P. Rolf Method
of Structural Integration.
-Webmaster for the Guild
for Structural Integration.
I maintain a private practice in bodywork in Boulder, Colorado. I am currently available for teaching positions or assignments in postural assessment and remediation using the myofascial techniques described by Dr. Rolf, basic Swedish massage, neuromuscular therapy (basic and advanced), soft tissue assessment and remediation techniques of Dr. James Cyriax and sensory re-patterning.
I can be reached for information about private bodywork sessions, bodywork seminars or consultation on custom digital imaging systems for bodywork schools or practitioners at:
